T is for Tenacity

When you Google tenacity, the words persistence, determination, unyielding, and endurance show up in many of the definitions.  Tenacity describes one of the qualities that I have developed on this program… or has this program developed these qualities in me?

My friends, colleagues, and students have used the word relentless to describe me countless times.  Tenacity is somewhat different.  I think of it more as stick-with-it-ness.  It takes tenacity to come to clinic and weigh in each week, even when you don’t get the results that you were looking for.  It takes tenacity to stick with an exercise routine.  It took a year’s supply of tenacity to get across the Big Dam Bridge the first time.

I’m not sure if it’s something that has been with me the whole time, something that I picked up from the clinic, or a healthy mixture of the two.  I do know that I’ve never been this successful at losing weight.

I agree with Shannon ^ Excellent virtue to have! Definitely tough to stick to things, especially the Big Dam Bridge – I am still embarrassed at how tough it is for me to make it across it without breaks some times. Still a goal for me to jog across it one day! 🙂 Keep up the good work! You are an inspiration to many!
