As you may know, my goal is to weigh 180 pounds, which is 61 pounds away. My next big milestone, though, is the Maintenance program. I begin Maintenance on November 1, which consists of a 12-week cycle of courses designed to equip me with the tools and resources necessary to transition into a sustainable diet free from meal replacements.
I’m not to my goal yet, but it’s a much more sensible approach to ease into traditional meals rather than to quit meal replacements cold turkey. As I learn more and more about the realities of planning, shopping, cooking, and eating on my own, I’ll become less dependent on meal replacements. This is the whole goals of the program.
I like to think of this transition period as the time when the sky diver opens the parachute. I’ve been in free fall for nearly a year now, losing, on average, more than half a pound a day. It’s time to deploy the parachute before I smash head first into the ground. Through this transition, I’ll have a graceful landing at my goal, and I’ll be equipped to maintain my weight.
Here’s to the next leg of the journey!
