The first lesson in the maintenance class summarizes the upcoming lessons and prompts us to reflect on our past and our future. Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing my responses to these questions. Feel free to share your own responses to the questions in the comments section below.
Where do you see yourself at the end of this class?
In a word, cycling. Just as I cycled through the weight loss program several times, I plan to cycle through the maintenance program several times. On subsequent trips through the same lesson, I picked up more and more. In education, we call this concept spiraling.
Spiraling Into Control.
At first, I see this being a rocky transition that’s going to be filled with shocks and bumps. Learning new techniques and skills, while mastering and leaning on old ones, I’ll be able to do this. Moving more and more skills from the new to old column, I’ll grow to be stronger and in more control. It sounds so simple when you write it down.
Since the first day of this program, I’ve known that this isn’t simply a diet. It’s a change in lifestyle. I’m ready to move to the next phase. Let’s take off the training wheels. Y’all better be there with the Bactine and a hug when I fall down and scrape my knee.
